Nozipho D.T Zungu is a young entrepreneur from Vosloorus (in Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg). She is the founder and owner of Cranberry Ice Beauty and Events, which is a company that was established in 2013. It was initially meant to be a skin clinic, where the manufacturing of her own range of skin products which would accommodate the needs of ethnic skin care could benefit her clientele, but instead, the concept was converted into an idea for a day spa with an events department incorporated into it.
She has also established a non-profit organisation, Bahlomile Eleanor Foundation, which is aimed at empowering women from all walks of life. She explains how her love for free-thinking and having ownership of something that could positively influence other women not only now, but in future as well, turned into the main reason why she left her full-time job as a secretary and even dropped out of completing her LLB degree, with the hopes of returning to complete her studies once her business had come self-sustaining.
Over the past few years, Nozipho has been actively involved in a number of business initiatives and these extend to, but are not limited to:
– The ‘SABC Young Women in Business Empowerment’ program, which involved the NYDA, SEDA, SARS and the Durban Business Support, where Cranberry Ice Beauty and Events made it to Top5 (2014)
– The Entrepreneur, hosted by the Durban Chamber of Commerce, where she was part of a 3-month rigid training in the development of her business. The business went on to make it to the Top20 finals (2015)
Nozipho is presently a Top20 finalist in the Enterprise Women SA competition. As part of the competition, she has been tasked with hosting a charity benefit event, where half of the proceeds will go to her chosen charity. This event will be hosted on the 15th of June 2017 in Sandton, South Africa (see picture above for more information).
